The MCNV (Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam) is an International Non-Profit development organization with 43 years work experience in Vietnam and 5 years in Laos (Savannakhet). We are working in a wide range of development fields such as poverty alleviation, primary health care, malaria and TB control, community-based rehabilitation etc.

MCNV has formed an alliance with two other Dutch organizations: Global Initiative for Psychiatry (GIP) and World Granny (WG), together called the Transition in the East Alliance (TEA), which in 2011 started a five-year program that is financed by the Ministry of International Cooperation in the Netherlands. The program will work in five countries, Laos, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Tadjikistan and Georgia, to support groups that are least benefiting from the growing economies. Attention will be paid to livelihood, health care and organizational development of poor and marginalized groups, especially the ethnic minorities, the disabled, the elderly and those with mental health problems. In Laos PDR the TEA program will primarily work in Savannakhet province (Nong district) and we are looking for suitable candidates for the position of:

MCNV-TEA Program Manager in Laos

He or she (full-time) needs to have at least 5 years experience in working for an international development organization and have a strong background (preferably at Master level) in either general Development Management, Livelihood Development (incl. microfinance), Public Health or another relevant study. S/he should have the capacity to train and lead a small field team of project staff, be a good communicator in spoken and written Laotian as well as in English and able to write reports and represent the Laos TEA program towards local and central government agencies in Lao PDR and in meetings with colleagues in the other countries taking part in the TEA program.

All staff should be enthousiastic to work in rural/mountainous areas, be respectful of local communities’ culture and habits, honest, reliable, know participatory methods/ skills and able to work good in a team as well as independently.

This position will be based in Savannakhet (provincial capital)

After a satisfactory probation period, employment will be offered contract basis with the possibility of extension till December 2015 and will start after the MoU of the TEA program has been signed (September or October 2011). Competitive salaries and benefits will be offered in proportion to educational and experience levels.
