Since 2007 SNV and GRET are working in partnership with the Provincial Government to strengthen the bamboo sector in Houaphanh province. Based on the value chain development approach Farmer Groups, and Small and Medium Bamboo Enterprises including bamboo producers and local traders are supported and their capacity is built.
The Bamboo Program is funded by the European Union which has the objective to provide stable and sustainable income and employment, contributing to poverty alleviation and conserving forest functions and upland environment.
The project is looking for a Lao National Adviser who is willing to work in both HouaphanhProvince and Vientiane Capital (mostly in Houaphanh Province) to fulfil the positionof Strategy Development Adviser.The strategy development adviser will be working with the Bamboo Task Force a.o. to coordinate and develop provincial strategies. This position is crucial to sustain ownership of the bamboo strategy.
Qualifications:
- Thinking and working capacity at the level of a master degree in strategic development, preferably with an agriculture and/or Forestry background.
- At least five years experience in the agriculture/ forestry sector is required as is experience with advisory work, institutional development/ organisational strengthening.
Professional experience and skills:
- Experience in networking, advocacy/lobbying and civil society development, and developing partnerships.
- Ability to apply good governance principles in working with multi- stakeholders processes.
- Demonstrable ability in strategic analysis processes.
- Experience in organisational participatory planning.
- Excellent Communication skills in Lao, good in English.
- Knowledgeable on civil society rights at community level.
- Good computer software knowledge.
