The Northern Uplands Development Programme (NUDP) is a Programme Based Approach of the Government of Laos supported by several Development Partners. One of the components of the NUDP is local governance and planning which is supported by the German Government and by its implementing Agency GTZ through the Lao-German “Integrated Rural Development Programme in Poverty Regions of Laos” (NU-IRDP). NU-IRDP is seeking qualified Laotian candidates for the position of 2 Infrastructure / Civil Engineers.
Duration of Assignment: 08 months, extension possible
1 position for Pongsaly province, starting date: 01. October 2010
1 position for Huaphanh province, starting date: 01. October 2010
Qualification and Experience:
- At least Master degree in a course related to the position
- At least 3 years of working experience in a similar position
- Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems, IT-know-how (MSOffice, Access or other database programs)
- Good English Language skills
- Used to frequent travels to the field level
- Sensitive to the cultural characteristics of the villagers
Main Tasks:
- The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Senior GTZ Engineer
- Assist counterparts, district authorities and communities in the implementation of participatory planned infrastructure schemes
- Develop short time work plans
- Perform the training of selected persons on district, kumban and village level for the maintenance of the infrastructure scheme
- Monitor the construction process and the use of funds
- Report regularly and upon request on the infrastructure scheme.
